As can be seen, the MetaFace system is evolving. Now it runs inside web browsers and can actually control the content of the different browser frames (see conceptual diagram below). MetaFace implements several different emotions and as well as the facial animation elements of VHML (Virtual Human Markup Language). A recent addition has been the rendering of teeth, tounge, and gums to better refine the speech animation, and the use of drawing states to render the talking head side-on. Now, thanks to the people working at Eptamedia, we are embarking on some comparative evaluation using their graphical frontend with the MetaFace framework. |
